Description
Gaufrage is a unique embossing process that creates upholstery leather of exceptional softness and beauty. The design impression is transferred to the leather by an engraved roller under high heat and low pressure for a soft natural hand without pattern match lines. Ancient Gaufrage is Nubuck cowhide that is roller embossed then hand-rubbed with multiple applications of clear, metallic and pigmented finishes to appear worn and distressed with a fine old patina. The characteristic finish effect of this leather artwork is applied by hand, the resulting variance in design and color are part of its natural beauty.
