Description
Highlander plaid evokes feelings of security within space, its grids: organization. Plaid’s popularity has certainly returned. Historically (a long, rich history), ‘tartan’ wasn't always a symbol of security. At the same time American colonists were demanding their independence from England, there was trouble in Scotland. Highlanders caught wearing tartan to signify their clan faced arrest. It became the symbol of rebels who were against the Crown; the British were so angry it was banned it for nearly 40 years. If you were a Highlander, you couldn’t wear tartan without being accused of treason. Banning plaid only made it more popular - take the ‘directional’ – be mad for plaid!
