Description
Brazilian redwood is a hardwood native to South America. It is one of the most beautiful and hardest woods in the world. One surprising fact about this natural hardwood is how well it performs under heavy load (bending strength) tests. These tests revealed that Brazilian redwood is twice as strong as California redwood and is even stronger than ipe wood decking. When freshly Brazilian redwood looks red, but is photosensitive like most woods, and will darken to a beautiful brown with hints of red. Brazilian redwood looks very similar to ipe and is a fraction of the cost.
