Material & Finish

Construction: Manufactured in a flat press by laminating paper saturated in melamine resin with phenolic-impregnated kraft layers at high pressure and heat. Panels are trimmed to size and the backs are sanded to facilitate bonding to a substrate. Material thickness is determined by the number of kraft layers bonded together
Content: Melamine-saturated decorative paper laminated to a phenolic-impregnated kraft paper core
Finish: Polished Velvet (PV). Alternatively, choose from 26 other finish options
Format: Panel / Sheet

Technical Specifications

Dimensional Stability: Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for dimensional change. Results varied between 0.25% - 0.30% in the machine direction and 0.45% - 0.60% in the cross direction depending on product type and thickness.
Edge End: Edges should be filed smooth and oriented towards the substrate to help prevent stress cracks and to minimize chipping
Impact Resistance: Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for ball impact resistance. Results varied between 40in-66in depending on product type and thickness
Overall Thickness: 48
Product Features: Customizable
Size: 30 in x 96 in, 30 in x 120 in, 30 in x 144 in, 48 in x 96 in, 48 in x 120 in, 48 in x 144 in, 60 in x 96 in, 60 in x 120 in, 60 in x 144 in

Applications & Usage

Application Filter: Bath|Countertop|Door|Kitchen|Millwork|Furniture|Furniture/Systems Furniture|Wall
Installation: Use carbide-tipped blades and router bits for cutting purposes. Kepp feed rates slow and tool speed high. The inside corners of cutouts should have a minimum radius of 0.125in and be filed smooth. When fasteners are required, it is advisable to drill an oversized hole through the laminate first. These strategies reduce the likelihood of stress cracks. Refer to the Postforming Technical Bulletin for postforming guidance
Recommended Adhesive: Solvent or water-based contact cement, white glue (PVA), epoxy, or hot melt glue. Consult your adhesive supplier for specific application requirements
Suitable Substrates: Medium to high density fiberboard, particleboard, or metals are suitable substrate options. Do not glue directly to plaster walls, gypsum wallboard, or concrete. The use of a backing sheet is recommended to minimize warpage. Apply to the opposite side of the substrate. The thickness of the backing sheet should be relatively equal to the thickness of the decorative laminate on the face of the assembly.

Performance Metrics

Abrasion Wear Resistance: Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for wear resistance. Result of 1,000 cycles
Antimicrobial Note: Consider specifiying Aegis Secure (finish code: AS), a specialized antimicrobial finish. For more information, refer to the Technical Bulletin.
Flammability: Tested to standard ASTM E84, UL 723 and CAN/ULC-S102-M. Results dependent on the HPL product type, bonding substrate, and adhesive. See Technical Bulletin for additional information
Flexural Strength: F39 Bending Radius: 14 mm (NEMA/LD 3-2005 3.14) F28 Bending Radius: 11 mm (NEMA/LD 3-2005 3.14)
Light Blocking: Complete
Lightfastness: Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for Light Resistance. Resulted in no effects
Maintenance: Cleaning with a solution of warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent is all that should be required in most cases. Stains may be removed with most non-abrasive household cleaners such as FORMULA 409®, GLASS PLUS® or WINDEX® with AMMONIA D®. Light scrubbing with a soft bristled brush may be necessary to remove stains from the depth of the structure on some textured surfaces. If the stain persists, use a paste of baking soda and water and apply with a soft bristled brush. Stubborn stains that resist any of the above cleaning methods may require the use of undiluted household bleach. Note that prolonged exposure of the laminate surface to bleach will cause discoloration. Avoid abrasives and harsh chemicals
Stain Resistance: Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 3.4 for Stain Resistance. Resulted in No effects for Stain 1-10. Resulted in No Effects for Stains 11-15.
Water Resistance: Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 3.5 for Boiling Water Resistance. Resulted in No Effects
