This material cannot be post formed and should not be exposed to extreme humidity, continuous sunlight, or temperatures above 275°F (135°C) for extended periods of time
Material & Finish
Construction
Manufactured in a flat press by laminating kraft paper saturated in melamine resin with phenolic-impregnated kraft layers at high pressure and heat. Panels are trimmed to size and the backs are sanded to facilitate bonding to a substrate. Material thickness is determined by the number of kraft layers bonded together. The surface layer has been designed to be non-absorbent and dry erase compatible
Content
Layers of melamine-saturated decorative kraft paper with a dry erase surface laminated to a phenolic-impregnated kraft paper core
Finish

Technical Specifications
Dimensional Stability
Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for dimensional change. Results varied between 0.25% - 0.40% in the machine direction and 0.70% - 0.80% in the cross direction, depending on product type and thickness.
Edge End
Edges should be filed smooth and oriented towards the substrate to help prevent stress cracks and to minimize chipping
Impact Resistance
Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for ball impact resistance. Results varied between 25in-60in depending on product type and thickness.

Installation
Use carbide-tipped blades and router bits for cutting purposes. Keep feed rates slow and tool speed high. The inside corners of cutouts should have a minimum radius of 0.125in and be filed smooth. When fasteners are required, it is advisable to drill an oversized hole through the laminate first. These strategies reduce the likelihood of stress cracks. Refer to the Postforming Technical Bulletin for postforming guidance
Recommended Adhesive
Maximum performance is gained by using a fire-rated adhesive
Suitable Substrates
Medium to high density fiberboard, particleboard, or metals are suitable substrate options. Do not glue directly to plaster walls, gypsum wallboard, or concrete. The use of a backing sheet is recommended to minimize warpage. Apply to the opposite side of the substrate. The thickness of the backing sheet should be relatively equal to the thickness of the decorative laminate on the face of the assembly.
Performance Metrics
Abrasion Wear Resistance
Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for wear resistance. Result of 1,000 cycles with Armored Protection finish. Results may differ with other finishes
Flammability
Tested to standard ASTM E84 and CAN/ULC-S102-M. Results dependent on the HPL product type, bonding substrate, and adhesive. See Technical Bulletin for additional information
Light Blocking
Complete
Lightfastness
Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for light resistance. Resulted in no effects
Maintenance
Clean using a felt or multi-purpose board eraser. Use over-the-counter Marker Board cleaning products or a solution of alcohol and water when additional cleaning measures are necessary. After extended use, solvents from dry erase markers may form a film on the surface, creating a ghosting effect. A similar effect may occur if the marker is erased before it is completely dry. Additional causes of ghosting may be adhesive residue left behind by protective peel coat, tapes, and post papers. Marks left by inadvertent use of a permanent marker can often be removed by tracing over the mark with a dry erase marker then immediately wiping off both inks. Permanent marker can also be removed using nail polish remover. Many commercially available products contain substances that may damage or discolor a laminate surface. This material has a high gloss finish so abrasive cleaners that may scratch the surface are not recommended. Avoid cleaners with harsh chemicals
Stain Resistance
Stain 1-10 No Effect, Stain 11-15 No Effect (NEMA/LD 3-2005 3.4)
Water Resistance
Tested to standard NEMA/LD 3-2005 for boiling water resistance. Resulted in no effects.
