- Only use mild, pure, water-free, dry cleaning solvents in a well-ventilated area. Water-based or detergent-based solvent cleaners may cause excessive shrinkage and staining. Water stains may become permanent and impossible to remove with solvent cleaning agents. Cleaning by a professional furniture cleaning service only is recommended. To prevent overall soiling, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended
