German fiber and filament company Trevira first introduced Trevira CS in 1980, but only more recently did the material hit the U.S. market. This synthetic’s wow factor lies in its unique fire retardancy. Unlike fabrics that receive a later-stage treatment, Trevira CS’s flame protection is inherent in its yarns, filaments, and fibers. This means it retains its protection regardless of wear, age, or frequent washing—and saves the extra carbon and energy costs associated with adding nonflammable finishes.
