  • Applications: For interior or exterior applications. Curtainwall glass applications and facades, such as vision glazings and spandrel glass are appropriate. Commonly used for windows, glass doors, side lites, dividing walls, wall coverings, skylites, clerestories, handrails and balustrades, shelves, shower enclosures, tabletops, backsplashes, and partitions. Also ideal for decorative applications, such as dichroic, acid-etched, digitally printed, and bird-friendly glasses. Heavy safety and security glass options are suitable for building entrances, reception areas, protective windows, storefronts, jewlery displays, museum cases, zoo enclosures, and marine aquariums. Many of these applications require processing into coated, heat-treated, or laminated glass products and/or assembled into multi-pane insulating glass units (IGUs) specified by architects, glazing contractors, and other building professionals. The glass also may be used for a limited range of industrial applications, including solar power collection and others.

  • Manufacturer Notes: 87% less green than ordinary clear glass. Glass samples should be evaluated in natural daylight. Artificial light may emit wavelengths that can skew perception of glass color. Perceived glass color can be influenced by sample size. The color of a 12in x 12in sample may not appear the same as a 4ft x 10ft glazed unit of the identical glass.

  • Environmental Benefits: Using energy-efficient architectural glass can result in reduced building impacts. Certain manufacturing sites employ water reclamation operations that divert treated non-potable wastewater from municipal wastewater treatment facilities. Manufacturing sites are equipped with extensive systems to recover and store discarded or scrap glass (known as cullet). This valuable feedstock reduces procurement of virgin materials and the amount of energy consumed during the glass-melting process. Greater than 99% of unused glass is reutilized in production. Products arrive in a special steel packing that is returned to Vitro facilities after delivery. The lifespan of the product is defined as 30 years per NSF GANA Product Category Rule (PCR) for Flat Glass - UNCPC 3711.

  • Recycling Notes: Glass is a technical nutrient with multiple options for reuse after deconstruction. Suitable as an aggregate in concrete and asphalt applications, and when finely ground, recycled float glass also can be used as a partial replacement for cement in concrete. Broken glass (cullet) also is a valuable feedstock in the production of glass, as it greatly reduces demand for virgin materials and reduces the melting temperature for batch materials. Vitro encourages recycling of all glass products when reuse is not plausible.
  • Post-Industrial Recycled Content Percentage: Cullet typically comprises between 10%- 20% of the final manufactured glass product.
